I did something really nice for myself today... two things in fact. I got a haircut (which is more typical , but something I enjoy) and I got a massage! I have recognized that a lot of stress has been building up in my body to the degree that it has been painful. I remembered that a neighbor of mine works at a masseuse at a nearby resort. I called her up and asked about making an appointment to come by her work for a massage. I was really proud of myself as well, because I told her that I am a trauma survivor, so I was particular about who gave me a massage & I didn't know what might come up for me. I was really pleased when she told me that she does in-house visits - which was perfect. So, she came to my home this afternoon & I had my first professional massage in 20 years! It was really okay. I feel especially good about this intentionally being a self-loving action. It feels like I am putting myself on the right path. Its a good feeling.

Great methods of self-care-- way to go! :woohoo

FWIW, I'm a massage therapist. It can be a great way to release a lot of stuff; a safe place to let go. I work with many trauma survivors and I believe massage can be a healthy way of reconnecting.
