Hi,

I'm newly diagnosed and to some extent in denial.

I came here to seek support from other BPD sufferers, to help me understand this illness. To help me understand why I think destructive thoughts and have destructive feelings.

The more I read about BPD, the more I hate it and hate myself.

Hi, and welcome.

It can be hard to first find out. I was in denial awhile too. The more I learned, the more it fit. The more it fit, the more I realized it didn't have to define me. I had the power to change the behaviours behind the diagnosis. It was empowering for me.

I hope you can see the diagnosis in a more positive way. You can now take control of your emotions, your actions. There is no reason to hate yourself for having BPD. It's just a label, it is not who you are.

You say you want to understand why you have destructive thoughts and feelings. I recommend the Tools sections at the upper left side of your screen. There is good info there.

I look forward to your future posts and sincerely wish you well.

Thank you.

I've read quite a few posts and I'm amazed by how many BPer's have lost people close to them.

I'm no different in that respect, I was almost 16 (now 33) when my mum passed away from cancer. Then I was left with an alcoholic bully for a father.

I'm learning a lot from this site and will tell my T about it later today.
