Hey there...

My name's funambola, I'm 23 and from germany. (I hope my english is good enough to talk here with you. ^^) I got the diagnosis BPD three years ago and registered here because there's really no german community like this. They all focus on the disorder as being untreatable and no one with BPD would ever get healthy. And that's what they tell you in therapy too. Actually there's just one therapist specialised on Borderline who thinks differently. And he's the only one working with this whole recovery-stuff. There are no books, no therapists, just nothing. One just gets taught that with BPD you'll always depend on medication, hospitals, etc. But that's not what I want, need and believe. I got here over a link in a german community about a week ago and the tools you're working with are already helping me in some parts and situations. It's a pity that there's nothing like this in germany but I'm glad that I found this.
So, I hope I'm allowed to stay although I'm not living in the USA.
If anyone got questions just ask. (:

Hi! You will notice that there are folks here from all different countries. If you want to work on yourself toward recovery, you are welcome here! I'm glad you're already using the Tools. They really do help people. I've been here 3 years and am doing much better since I was first diagnosed. I'm glad you're already having success!

Thanks. (:
Just thought it could be a problem cause I couldn't register with my actual mail-adress. But a new one worked then.
I've been working on myself by myself for a long time also with methods quite similar to the tools here. Unfortunatly therapy hasn't helped me there till now. But thats why I became quite good in helping myself. (:

Another Tool I use is DBT skills. They're somewhat similar to the Tools here. Have you heard of it? It's called Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Dr. Marsha Linehan is the creator of this type of therapy. You can look it up on the Internet. It's helped me a lot!

Yes with skills I work too. That's what I started with some years ago. And I'm going to do DBT in a few months. I already did sort of "mini-DBT" two years ago focussing on SI. Now it's gonna be the whole thing.

Gruesse Funambola,

Peace,
jim

Thank you. (:
Oh actually I like the english language. I like reading english books and I write english poems too. But yeah writing about my stuff like this in a community seems to be a bit different. Maybe a good possibility to learn.
How come you speak german? Didn't expect that here. ^^

I started to learn German in high school. I spent a summer in Krefeld on an exchange program in 1984. I minored in German in college, and earned certification as a translator while there. I haven't used the language much since I graduated almost 20 years ago. I miss it; I really love the German language.

Best to you as you work with the Tools and in your therapies. I am not convinced that BPD is unrecoverable for all. Many of us here at BPDR have recovered.

I don't believe this any longer either as I had several months where I was absolutely fine. I don't think anyone would have diagnosed me as BPD in that time. And I reached that all on my own. But here one gets almost no support in thinking that it is possible to recover. I haven't met any therapist supporting me till now and the german online communitys are even worse. Anyway thats my impression and experience.
Unfortunatly I fell back several steps. So they think they now have their proof for them being right. But I hope, know and believe that I can get back to the level I had. Although it seems to be very hard work right now.
