I'm back on the board after two years away, think my user name at the time was hrisme but can't figure out how to access it, so am back under a new name. I was diagnosed with BPD in 2001, after fighting the diagnosis for months. When I finally came to accept it I jumped into the recovery process as stubbornly as I had been fighting it! I've been considered "recovered" in my therapist's terms for nearly three years now, though I still have some lingering traits (primarily a constant fear of abandonment). I'm still seeing my therapist weekly, but for other issues now (major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety, OCD, social phobia, and high risk of psychosis--let me tell you, it's a ton of fun!). I've come back to the board because I've recently become heavily involved with the National Alliance for Mental Illness & tend to give a lot of input on BPD, and I've also recently put a great deal of effort into educating my religious community in the area of mental health, specifically with personality disorders as we have at least two individuals with all-out BPD. I'm pleased to be moving from coping/surviving into advocating, though it still does set me back every now and again! I probably won't be around often, but look forward to checking in every once and awhile.

Welcome back! Yes, I remember you. I'm so glad you're doing well. And it's wonderful that you're an advocate and helping people to learn about mental illnesses. I hope you'll drop in from time-to-time!
