Newly diagnosed, but been dealing with this all my life.

One parent was mentally ill, and left when I was young, the other died recently. I wasn't intensely symptomatic until that loss, oddly.

So, here I am. Hello.

Hello, hello and WELCOME to BPDR!

It's very difficult to loose parents-- I lost my mom when I was 12 and didn't really get over it for 18 years or so. But, I've learned ways to cope and I'm sure you can too. BPD can make grief a bit more difficult, but with the tools on the left it gets easier. I hope they are as helpful to you as they are for me.

Anyway, welcome, welcome! If you have any questions, please just ask.

H

Almost all people with BPD had some traumatic event happen in their childhood that only enhanced their BPD and it obviously affects us still as we transition into adulthood and other stages of life. Sexual abuse is one big childhood event for many of us. Im sure the lose of a parent or both would be very damaging and its hard to get past. There are times that you wont WANT to get past it...you feel anger and extreme grief. Just remember that we all can relate to you mostly and that you will feel a burden lift as you use the tools provided to you in order to get through recovery.
