Hi Carlize :)
Thanks for opening up :) I think you have taken the first step by opening up and sharing how you feel :)
Sometimes the dark hole feels so horrible, it's as if we're sucked into it, and there's no way out!
I have some questions to ask you:
a) Are you seeing a therapist or some professional? :)
b) Perhaps you could describe more about yourself? I mean more specific about this 'dark hole'?

Let's take it one step at a time. Perhaps you could try journalling, just writing down how exactly you feel - to just be aware of your own feelings, no matter how dark they are. To just be able to name your feelings and what you are struggling with.

Cheers :) We are all together on this journey. One step at a time :)

For me, a couple different books I read on BPD were a great help to me. Gave me ideas for coping skills to try, and also helped me understand myself better. Both were books I borrowed from the library. One of them I wound up buying.

Or... check out the "Tools" section on this website, in the column on the left. Pick one, read about it, work though it, apply it.

Dear Carlize
You are not alone :) That's the greatest thing about this site, finding out that you are not alone on this journey :)
It might be a good idea to be taking medication for the time being, it helps with the moods / intense feelings of despair. But only a professional mental health person would be in a position to decide if you need medication, and what medication.
Personally I have benefitted. I have mood swings and intense feelings of despair/ etc. Since taking medication (I was prescribed Lexapro 10mg), I no longer have mood swings, and I can think clearer. Am less impulsive too :)
Do update us on your appointment with a therapist :)
