Hello
I have not had a chance to explore the site. Could a Community Senior please guide me to the best place in the forum for family members to ask questions about communicating with their adult offspring, who may have BPD?

Something like a guide of what not to say and how to communicate most effectively without triggering.

This would help me greatly. Thank you.

There is actually a separate site for what you're looking for:

http://www.bpdfamily.com/message_board/

This site is for people (with or without BPD) to work on themselves and their issues.

I will say one thing... you won't find a guide on what not to say or how not to trigger. There are 256 permutations of BPD and we're all triggered by different things. The message board I referred you to can help you if you give them details about the issues you are having with the person you know with BPD.

Good luck!

Hi,

Trinity is correct - there are no guides on what to say and not say. There are some generic communicatin tools that we teach at BPDFamily.com that many members have reported as being helpful (hopeful).

Some are listed on this page: http://bpdfamily.com/message_board/inde ... #msg913190

We also have a brief video on our blog that maybe helpful:

Good luck!

You may also find the resources at NAMI helpful. They are real life, real time classes and support groups - all free.
