Greetings!

I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at age 16. At some point they tacked on "bpd traits" but I was always chiefly being treated for bipolar. Just recently, at age 22, they decided that I am not, in fact, bipolar, but that bpd fits a whole lot better. And the more reading I do the more I agree. I'm also pretty peeved off that they treated me with -so much- medication- made me gain weight, messed with my thyroid, messed with my memory and my cognitive ability- all in error. Sigh.

So now here I am, trying to figure out where to go from here. Looking for some support. Wanting to get on the road to recovery.

Diagnosing mental illness is still not an exact science and it sucks that you've had to go through needless medication and side effects. The important thing is that you have a more accurate DX now, which gives you the opportunity you need to work with it.
