I was diagnosed with BPD about 5 years ago. Probably living with this for 10 or so years now. Figured I could just kick this feeling. I went to therapy 2 or 3 times maybe and was put on antidepressants during that time. Well, much time and turmoil has passed and the fact that I will need help recovering has hit me full force. I am happily married to a wonderful man with 2 beautiful boys. I am a very lucky and blessed person. I want to do this for myself, but, I also want to do this for them so they can have a happy healthy mom and wife. I am thinking about looking into some therapy (minus the use of drugs), hopefully, it works. Glad there are forums like this to talk to people who have experienced and know what it's all about to be BPD.

Kelly, welcome to BPDR! :yellowave

It's nice to hear that you want to take the path of recovery. Even though you listed yourself first, you also listed "being a happy healthy mom and wife" "for them" - hopefully the "for them" part is just a by-product of what you want for yourself. I've found that people who try to change to please someone else don't fare as well as those who undertake recovery for purely selfish reasons. Folks who try to change themselves for the benefit of other people usually come to resent the very people they're trying to please and things get ugly from there. But the folks who start out "selfishly" trying to make themselves happy first and foremost end up having beautiful relationships as a by-product of learning how to become the person they've always hoped they would become. When we endeavor to change ourselves for ourselves, we embark on a life-changing experience.
