... I am Mirelen, a 34-year-old female Borderliner from Germany...

Since March I know about my condition and am trying my best to learn how to handle it. Sometimes I feel much better - sometimes it starts all over again. I do not feel bad about the latter most of the time, as I know it takes time.

In September I started DBT therapy consisting of one personal and one group session. It helps and I get better at it a little bit every day :)

I have a wonderful fiancee and an incredibly cute 17-month-old son, two great dogs and a cat. We just moved into our own home and everything could be perfect ;) well as good as it can get ...
Basically it is all I ever wanted and I decided not to find excuses anymore. That's where I am in terms of recovery.

Why am I here?
I want to find my own individual way on how to get better and want to try anything that helps me in actually living my wonderful life!
Many resources are not available in German plus I believe the more different the people, the more different their approaches, the more ideas to try.
Eventually, I would love to help in one way or another to increase awareness for mental ilnesses in our society. Mainly to prevent more and more children and teenagers from developing this disorder due to a growing number of unhealthy emotional environments.

Thanks for providing such a platform and I am excited to be here!

Mirelen

Welcome to BPDR, Mirelen - glad to have you here all the way from Germany!

I think one of the best things BPDR does is exactly what you describe - exposure to new thoughts, ideas and perspectives from a group of folks at various stages of their own similar journey. Oftentimes, it is easier to give advice to someone else because we are not emotionally invested in the outcome or held back by the fear of the situation and being able to give this advice is often a great way for us to unravel our own twisted thinking & see our own situations in a more objective light.
