I was just diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. I have spent the last week since I have been out of the crazy house looking up as much info on bpd and the different treatments.. I am looking for support from people that have bpd or are famililar with it. Just need some place to vent things and get feed back on how to over come some things or how to deal with things better.

Hi returning, and welcome to the board. I hope you'll find a happy home here!

Venting is cool, we all need to do it from time to time. Life just sometimes sucks, and it's good to get it off your chest. But as we are a recovery-focused board, we also try to look to a healthier future. We all want to get better, and not just complain about how things are now. To that end, we often ask ourselves -- or each other -- questions like "what is my responsibility in this mess?" or "what could I have done differently?" Check out our "Tools" -- in the box on the left -- for some useful techniques that have helped many of us straighten out our thinking and behavior.

None of this is easy -- it all takes hard work -- but recovery is possible. I imagine in all your reading in the last week, you've found some pretty negative things about BPD, especially if you've stumbled across any of the sites where "nons" -- people who are in relationship with BPDs -- post to vent about how horrible we are. Don't buy in to that! We are not monsters!

As far as treatment is concerned, there are different ways to get there. A lot of us take anti-depressants and/or mood stabilizers, but there are others who get along well without medication at all. Therapy is pretty essential, but different kinds work for different people. The important thing is to find a therapist that you trust enough to be totally honest with and work with.

Well, I've rambled long enough. I'm glad you found us!

Welcome to the board!

I would be happy to be a friend. :)

I am new here as well. I was diagnosed with BPD about 14 months ago. It still feels new to me, but here I am! Trying to recover as best as possible- every day is a new day.
