I am trying to post something but I get an Error Message. I keep trying but it won't work. Any suggestions? Thanks.

This is what the message said:

SQL Error [mysql4]

Data too long for column 'post_text' at row 1 (1406)

An SQL error occurred while fetching this page.

I just got this error without copying from anywhere. I spent an hour trying to post. Then had to post in different sections and lost half of it lol

It's happened a few times over the last couple of days.

Tracy, sometimes when I post something that's long, I copy it just in case. I hate losing what I write!

I think I have a good idea now of why this started happening, but not yet figured out how to fix it.

I always write my posts in a text editor and then paste them in - there's a lot of ways to lose a post even by misclicking on something. (However, writing in MS Word will put special characters into the post unless you disable that option.)

If I write something elsewhere to paste in, rather than just writing right here on the forum, I usually use email. Like, write it in a blank email, save as a draft while writing, but never send it, or just send it to myself. I wonder if that would work, as far as getting around the problem with copying from Word, or just as an alternative way to be able to save long posts as one writes.

i get those all the time, no one pays any attention. lol. i have told several and no one answers me. shrug* and it also is erroring out a lot on the plain website not found too.

so i began to copy ,,,highlight, click copy, then hit submit. then....if it messes up, i still have the post. or i forget and its gone and i hate that.

i wasnt copying/pasting or nothing, it just did it.

some days almost every time. some days not at all.

just copy it so you have it and you can click back on the browser and repaste it in and try again. or save it for later in email or something.

Post subject:  Re: Getting Error Message

Ah doesnt matter I did copy it, just it still wouldn't post. I went in and changed things and amended things to no avail. Oh well.

I just wanted to mention that I got this error message despite writing my post on the board and not by trying to copy it from an outside source.

I even retyped it. Hope you suss it out soon Stoneglow. Sending you many techie healing vibes.

P/A
We pay attention.
Hell, it eats my posts, too.
But most of us have no idea what's technically going on or how to fix it.
There are only one or two people around here who really understand the technical setup of this website.
What reply would you like to hear from the rest of us?

Post subject:  Re: Getting Error Message

"i heard you jody" would been nice...if you look, i believe the post still has zero responses.

it just doesnt surprise me any longer.

i figure any reply would have been useful, instead of ignoring.

"i get the errors also, jody"

hell, you can think that up on your own, i dont have to tell someone how to reply to a posting saying the errors are back, do i?

Post subject:  Re: Getting Error Message

let me rephrase my sentences.

from....this...."""i get those all the time, no one pays any attention. lol. i have told several and no one answers me. shrug*"""

to this.....

i get error messages a lot of times on the board when i post. i think (rephrased from using "i feel" which was incorrect--feeling is only one word) no one pays any attention because when i tell someone or post it here, i get no responses at times. when that happens, i feel like it is no big deal to anyone but myself and as long as others dont get the same errors, it doesnt matter.

looking back, i have gotten responses most of the time. i was allowing one responseless post to color my thoughts and fuel my feeling of worthlessness.

again, a P/A response,,,was "i am not surprised any longer".

to rephrase, i think*** (damn rephrase again) some on here do not care about me and i am trying to accept that and i used this example as fuel again for that thought, which i shouldnt have done.

shit, i gotta work on using P/A.

thank you for using your time and pointing that out to me, Minx. i do appreciate that. its the only way im gonna learn im doing it. i chose to work on rephrasing it and setting it in my mind better.

very true, my original post was not useful. nor was my 2nd one. nor was adding in my thoughts to this thread.

my bad here.

What post is that? Can you provide a link?

I just looked at the unanswered posts via the "View unanswered posts" link. While I do see one recent post from you, as well as some older ones, none are in the help forum.

Looking in the help forum index, the unanswered post from you is back in January. That's not at all recent.

Okay, I see you do recognize that you usually do get a response. Good job working through that. I still wonder what post it is you are saying still has no responses.

Post subject:  Re: Getting Error Message

i know...that is when it dawned on me what i was doing and how twisted it was.

i felt pretty small right then. and decided to come back here and redo it and my thinking.

my T gave me a homework thing on automatic thoughts and mind vs mood.

this was a complete automatic thought on my part, twisted up into more, and i have worked it out.

i cant believe my mind just did that and went blooey on me like that.

umm, it is only one..and it was one way back. Post subject: warning, server errorsPosted: Tue Jun 03, 2008 6:45 pm

that one, ellen. my mind had it all warped up.

Ah... okay. Since you replied to yourself it doesn't show as a post with no replied. Got it. :) Not that it really matters. Anyway, again, glad you worked it out. :)

the thing felt so weird when i went to look for proof and realized i was totally out in left field with my thoughts. odd feeling, im telling ya. i had to come back and own it, tho.

Good job, Jody!
You did a REALLY good job there - looking at what you said, finding the twisties and working them through. Really good stuff.

That's important stuff. I can get pretty uncomfortable with that realization, too, but it's priceless to our recovery. For me, it was like - if I'm so "out there" about this, what else might there be? But it makes it a LOT easier to become centered and balanced when I can pick out when I'm getting "out there".

Cool stuff, girl!
