I was just surfing around the board. I happened to read a link under Deep Blue posted by Trinity, written by Candle about helping people who express suicidal ideation. Great, no problem there, it was informative and I appreciate both of them for posting such. But at the bottom of the page on this link, which is within the BPDR site, there are odd replies that don't seem like anything on this board I have ever seen. Graphic, sexually explicit stuff, random, incoherent. What's up with that? I mean, why is it there? I'm not offended or anything, just curious. There is a disclaimer that 'not responsible for content' or some such, but, why is it there in the first place? It just seems like random profanity? I don't understand. It almost seems like key-words for a porn search, like that's what would bring up that sort of thing.

This is what I'm talking about, at the bottom of the page, not the part that is useful for us. I asked my H what something like that would be (he's a computer engineer) and he said they are spam, track-backs or something. So that other sites can link. Shouldn't we have filters for that?

In any case, I thought you guys should know. Maybe you already do, but I didn't.

Thanks for letting us know. I'll clean them up tomorrow if no-one else gets to it first. I think we caught most of it a while back- all those users are already IP-banned for posting comments on other pages. The last one was months ago, I believe I fixed it so they can't make any more.

Thanks for the heads-up. I deleted them all off the server.

I usually try to make sure that "Comments" section for posts / articles put on the main website are turned off because more often than not, we just get flooded by spam-bots. I have yet to come across more than a handful of genuine comments by real people so I do try to keep them turned off which keeps the bots at bay. It looks like that article got through with the comments activated; I've turned them off so we should be 'safe' for a while.

Thanks, Ash and StoneGlow--especially for the links!

I really just didn't understand what it was, but I do now. ;)
