Post subject:  can someone translate this into a simple English for me?

Hello, i found this
Quote:
transient, stress-related paranoid ideation or severe dissociative symptoms
under the rubric DSM-IV Diagnostic Criteria: could someone be so kind as to translate it into simple English for me? (English is not my mother-language and I would like to proper understand what it means rather than do guess-work).
Thank you so much,
Katze x

Katze,

If you have a therapist, you should ask him/her. Sounds like quite a complicated diagnosis, doesn't it.

My example... I Have to live with my parents right now... I can't eat With my dad because I'm convinced he hates me for eating HIS food that HE pays for... And if he whispers something to my mom like "I love u", I absolutely know he's talking about me...

I keep looking for reason hate him, paranoid that hes always talking about me and how I'm a looser...

"transient, stress-related paranoid ideation or severe dissociative symptoms"

I majored in English and minored in psychology, so I don't mind trying to explain. "Stress-related paranoid ideation." means that sometimes paranoid ideas can come around when you're under stress. A paranoid idea would be something like Daniel's example... people with paranoia sometimes worry that others are talking about them behind their back, or hate them for reasons that might not have any evidence whatsoever, or maybe that someone who just did something hurtful did it because they want to ruin their life, when in reality maybe they were just being forgetful or insensitive, etc.

Dissociation is a state of feeling disconnected from yourself. Like you don't know who you are, or sometimes what you're doing. Some people might experience it by feeling like they are someone else, like they're not human, or like they're out of their body.

Transient means that these thoughts and feelings are not permanent. It comes and goes, typically occurring when someone is incredibly stressed or upset.
