Borderline to me, is like Acid Rain, and not having the sense to stay out of it...Occasionally a stranger will lend me an umbrella, or I find a tree to crouch under...The acid wears away the temporary sense of self, and worse...It starts to burn to the core..

Ever feel like crawling into a dark hole......?

I do..

Very good analogy. I believe heretic answer would be "carry your own umbrella".

I do know how you feel. What's even better than crawling down a hole is confronting the source (and that's in you) of what is going on.
Are you familiar with the tools?

If you want to talk please feel free to post, we got some wonderful people on the boards.

BTW sorry for the wrong words...
I write a lot on my phone, auto correct spelling...

"Heretic" should read "here on" as in here on these boards.

Sorry.

Yes. Sometimes the dark seems to be a much better alternative to the acid rain. Stranjer makes a good point. You need to figure out how to carry your own umbrella. Sometimes, you have to decide you need to remove yourself from the area with the acid rain and go somewhere that is safer.

All this sounds very ethereal. How do you actually GET yourself out of that rain? You have to arm yourself with tools that will help you get through the painful times. Once I understood mindfulness, I found that it helped me tremendously. I was able to stay in the moment and not jump out into that rain. I was able to realize that I could stay under the shelter.

Trinity
YOu mean mindfulness really helps when the intense pain comes about?

That is a strong analogy. Sometimes I think I thrive on Chaos especially when I'm bored or want to feel an emotion and not just nothing. Of course I hate conflict, but I can't stop it! I also hate feeling upset!

That is a really good analogy. It puts a different light onto the subject, but also exposes how difficult it can be for those suffering from BPD, as if only others can help. However, that umbrella can be held by the person who is suffering from BPD, it just takes much motivation and support. For many, that umbrella is held by therapists, counselors, friends or family members and then passed onto the patient themselves.
