I would really like someone to talk to. I thought I had already posted but it says I haven't posted before. To start I am 19 years old. I have been struggling with all different kinds of emotions starting at age 14. I need someone to talk to me and try and help me understand why I developed BPD, why I feel like I do, how to cope with it, and just a friend in general. Any takers? :)

hi,

I'm not sure the "experts" know why people develope bpd, but I personally believe there is a strong genentic component. My father, I have always thought, had bpd himself, although he was a very high-functioning man. I always felt much closer to him than to my mother, and I believe I understood him better than she.

I'm glad you have found your way here; this is a very good place to give and receive feedback.

I'm not sure if anyone in my family has it, but it always seemed like my mother was highly emotional. I didn't feel very loved by my family, like I always let them down. I grew up with 3 little sisters and I was expected to be the good one, the guide to the others.

sorry about that quote thing.

I'm trying to say that I can relate quite well to feeling not loved by my parents even though I knew they did love me. That perception has always been difficult for me, but now I do believe they did---at least as well as they were able. I believe my father had bpd, although, a very high-functioning individual. My relationship with him was difficult at times, but before he died I did know that he loved me. In fact the day he died he wrote me note(he was not able totalk)telling me he did love me.

I think the more intimate our relationships with people, the more difficult it can be.

An'yway, I hope you can come to terms with things.

Thank you. It is difficult but I am working hard to fix my life. Not just for me, but for my own family and my son.

I think the best thing about this place is, yes there is always someone to talk to who understands... but furthermore there is always someone who needs your help. Being there for other people in similar situations makes me feel so great about myself. It helps me build that self-confidence and positive self-image I'm so lacking. I feel a great sense of joy and accomplishment when I can be there for someone going through what I am, and I think we all feel that way.

Anyone is free to private message me if they want to talk. I can't say I am an amazing help, but i'm in a good mood today so I will try my very best :)
