I am scared because today a nurse of mine wanted to talk to me. She told me what some test results were and I wish that the Nurse Practitioner had told me because it is super confusing and scary. I can't get in to see my primary care doctor til next week and right now my anxiety is high.

See, i have been having times where my heart rate is too fast even at rest. I had a monitor on for a month and so they have told me I have 'tachycardia' which is a fast heart rate. ok. not comfortable to live with but not dangerous.

then i asked about a certain condition I read about online. its called autonomic neuropathy. it affects the heart rate and blood pressure and digestion..........all which I have problems with. well that's what I ended up being told I have today! I have what is called moderate cardiac autonomic neuropathy, and paradoxic parasympathetic syndrome. scary sounding i know. the stuff I found online is too confusing.

the bottom line is that the part of the nervous system that is responsible for my heart rate and blood pressure is damaged. no one said I was going to have a heart attack or anything like that, but the nurse said that I would not know it because I would not have typical symptoms. ok. so what does that mean right? I have no idea!

then I go to my PCP office and ask for some test results that were in my chart. I needed them for another doctor. One was an ultrasound of my heart. come to find out, I have borderline pulmonary hyptertension.........a different diagnosis than regular high blood pressure. great! so what does that mean? I don't know.

so I called my former coworker at a hospital on the cardiac unit and asked if she can find out for me. she will talk to a cardiologist tomorrow. i have no clue if I will have to see a cardiologist or not. this just scares me. I wish I could talk to my doctor today and get some answers. I will call tomorrow after work (yeah I got a part time job!) and see if she will see me on thursday before the holiday. My anxiety is just up and i am scared. scared of the unknown but I have to use my skills tonight and remain calm and collected. no one has said this is dangerous yet but I read online that its serious. I am only 32 and have so many health problems! but this does explain a lot of symptoms! maybe its a blessing in disguise?

i spent my whole hour talking to my T about it today. Thanks for reading! any support is greatly appreciated!

Roo

hey ((Roo))

pulmonary hypertension is no doubt due to your heart issue, it is high pressure in the vessels going to the lungs from the heart.

a "heart attack" or myocardial infarction is a clot in the blood vessels that shut off blood supply to whichever part of the heart muscle they go to.

you could take meds, have a implantable defib, have some laser surgery where they zap parts of the heart controlling beats, etc. can be treated lots of ways.

DEF have a cardiologist for your dr. one up on all the latest stuff.

this is related to being diabetic. it is a bit complicated to get into here in type. it def needs to be treated by someone well versed in this stuff. each affected area would need its own treatment.

do you have a diabetic specialist? i hope you can find one.

im sorry this was laid on ya.... hugs*****

Jody, I think you've provided some great information, but I'm slightly concerned about your ability to diagnose Roo. Last I checked, you weren't a cardiac physician. Your note to Roo is very straightforward and authoritative without anything to back up your diagnosis. It is likely you have experience with the symptoms Roo has shared, but I feel it is dangerous for anyone to give a diagnosis to someone via the internet without ever meeting the person or fully understanding the medical history.

Roo, I hope you're able to get answers to your questions soon. I can imagine it's scary to not know what's going on with your body. Please keep us posted on the outcome of your next appointment.

it is NOT likely i had any experience. i have not tended to many diabetics. my groups were more elderly, Alzheimers, stroke, etc. i had no idea what the terms were Roo posted. so i searched em to see if i could put any of it in english for her, as dr-ese can get and sound pretty foreign. that was my mistake.

i dont see i told her anything wrong as i said she needs a cardiac dr specializing in diabetic complications, but i stand corrected by 2 of you now about this.

thus i shall back off this thread. as i stated before, in CC, i hate to see someone not say something when it could help another (re the seroquel shit i got into but i am resolved to stand aside regardless) then i fuck up again....arghhhhhhhhh. as my pal says a lot, i need to beat my head into a brick wall. im too stupid to learn OR shut up.

i thought i posted the link i got the info from and actually, i didnt.

SHE dxed it in the post, i didnt. i searched her terms. will NOT happen again.

best to ya Roo, i love yas,,,you know that. im sorry your dealing with whatever it is you might be dealing with. im sorry my mother instinct comes out at times and my medical takes over also. too much damn instinct there. please disregard my earlier post to you. .

sorry, Nik. will not happen again. i hope. i will do my best to see it doesnt. """"Last I checked, you weren't a cardiac physician"" i dont think that was necessary to add, and indeed i said she needed a specialist.

now im out of the thread. ty for the input. i only wish i had the brains for it to soak into.

i suggest Nik, please take out my post and your reply to me and this one, and stick it in another thread so i dont hurt her thread. tyia* for that.

Roo, try to remember that you can't really worry about things that aren't real. To worry about a diagnosis that you don't have (yet, or ever) is chasing shadows. It'll exhaust you and you won't have anything to show for all that effort.

Keep breathing. Keep doing your best. Do only what you can right now. Work the Steps and come up with your three possible courses of action. Select the best one for now and do it. And keep doing that until you get in to see the doctor.

Did I mention to keep breathing? Cuz that's an important one. ;)

I am sorry that I couldn't post earlier but I am using a slower computer again and my post didn't post.

I am not offended by Jody's post at all. I know she was trying to be helpful and look up the terms that i had written down.

Ash, I DO have this diagnosis. Its been confirmed but what scared me was that there was no explanation about it. My primary care doctor saw me yesterday and she doesn't really know much about it.

I see a cardiologist next week for this and for a stress test of my heart. and I have a diabetes specialist.......lots of specialists in fact.

Jody, if you are watching this thread still...........I love ya :O) Thanks for caring about me.

Roo

My post came across incorrectly. I am not lashing Jody for her words of care, compassion and concern. BPDR is a peer-to-peer community and while we have individuals who are licensed to practice medicine in different capacities, therapy, or other things, BPDR does not verify any of the claims of certification and does not want to be held liable for advice provided to members.

The purpose of my post to Jody is to indicate things like "pulmonary hypertension is no doubt due to your heart condition. I do see the suggestion to see a cardiologist, but the authoritative use of language can be misconstrued. This is not to say Roo would misunderstand, but anyone reading the board (On the Border) is a public view board, who happens to have similar conditions may choose to accept what Jody says as right and not pursue.

Jody, I did not mean to put you in a strange place, I was merely pointing out none of us should give absolute medical advice. I sincerely apologize if my words came across harshly. That was not my intent.

(((Roo))) Just want you to know I'm thinking about you and hoping you get some helpful information when you see the cardiologist.
