Does anyone else think like this?

"Everyone's ignoring me...that feature is blocked off only to ME, people (even online) are talking behind my back & I'm "known" and avoided online, and IRL, my friends are looking for any chance to ditch me.."

And the whole time, I KNOW I'm being utterly ridiculous, but the thoughts still play out anyway? And as I'm telling myself to stop being stupid, I'm indulging myself at the very same time?

-Poor little me

-Why can't I stop being a baby?

ARGH. I want to pull my brain out of my head and shake it!!

Ive been known to "go there" a time or two but now those thoughts only creep in occasionally & it's fairly easy to untwist & figure out my best path (a la Five Steps) - which is usually just to ask what's going on.

Currently I am an observer to my faulty thoughts.

They all came from outside of me, brainwashed into me by 15 years of emotional abuse.

Yes. But only in heightened emotional situations. I felt like that a LOT after recent happenings in my life. I'm only seeing it now, after I've let myself cool, that it really wasn't true at all. And then again, it was in one instance, because they were overwhelmed by what was going on with me. I let that one instance gnaw at me and dictate my ideas of what I believed other people were doing/saying.

My first aim - relaxation. Then tools. The reality of the situation will come to you when you allow it.

Yeah...been there, go there too, you're not alone with it. My favorite challenge is the Byron Katie question "Is it true?"

Everyone's ignoring me... Is it true?

Can you absolutely know that it's true? www.byronkatie.com

Given that I've discovered most of my thoughts and beliefs that go down this root are usually a lie the is it true question helps me a lot.

To help Tigerlily & Raeni work through the communication process, I've split off the remainder of the thread to Conversation Corner (and NOT because it was "a secret desire" I promise!) I could see that things were getting mired up with some BPD stuff and going slightly off-track well before the comment and I'm hopeful that a safe, uninterrupted space will allow that to be worked through.
