Taken directly from Putting the Pieces Together, here are some of the general BPD-oriented homework exercises listed in Chapter 9. These homework exercises are optional (they are NOT required for your participation or continued membership with the BPDR Forums.) The homework need not be posted in public nor shared in any way. The exercises are simply posted as a way to provide some of the recovery-oriented work that may be of assistance in your journey toward healthy, happy living.

Separation of Stuff is one of the most important tasks you can practice during recovery.
[list1][*]Get a sheet of paper and list between one and three situations where you had a Borderline meltdown or were triggered into depression because of the actions of another.
[*]What did each of you say? Do?
[*]How were you feeling? Looking back on the situation, can you remember feeling a similar way in any other situations? Is it possible you reacted disproportionately because you were combining similar experiences based on the memory of feelings?
[*]For each of those situations, make a column for yourself and the other person. Then attribute “stuff” to each side. This “stuff” can be anything: fear, frustration, anger, decisions, etc.
[*]What can you do on a regular basis to help remind yourself to separate “stuff” as it occurs? [/list]
