Hi my name is Amy and I live in Indiana. I have been diagnosed with PTSD and Borderline Personality recently and am so confused by it all. I understand the diagnosis and have a therapist and just started a DBT group but, I feel sooo all alone. I feel have no soul, my soul has died. A new acquaintance reccomended this site for me, so I thought I would check it out, seeing as I need to know that I am not alone and need somewhere to talk to people who REALLY understand where I am at.
Well, thank you for letting me join.
Amy

Hi Sissy! I live in Indiana too. I live right outside of Indianapolis.

I was diagnosed 2 years ago by a wonderful psychologist. He told me I had BPD and I didn't believe him. It took months before I accepted the diagnosis. Now I am working towards learning new skills. His practice offers a BPD Group which I go to. We also learn some DBT skills there too.

I was diagnosed at a later stage in life (I'm 57) but things are better than they had been. I suffered for many many years without knowing what was wrong with me. I'm glad to finally put a name to it!

I think you'll like it here. There are Tools you can use (go to the left side of this page) and people who understand what we're going through. I even sometimes complain about the horrible Indiana weather we've been having :biggrin

Keep reading and posting. Hope to get to know you!

:welcome

I am up in Northern Indiana. Elkhart, if you know where that is. It is about 10 minute to Michigan.
Thank you for the welcome. And I will look at the tools and such.

I grew up in South Bend, Amy, so I'm familiar with your neck of the woods. Welcome to BPDR!

I grew up in Michigan and lived in Chicago for five years - traveled through Indiana many times.

Welcome aboard - you're certainly NOT alone! :yellowave

Amy, I hope you can find some comfort knowing you are not alone. There are a lot of great people here who understand what you are going through.

Welcome, Amy.

I'm confident you will shake that feeling of being all alone fairly soon now that you're here. There's a whole gang of us here bumping into each other and lifting each other up as need be.

It's work work work that will get your bus onto the stretch of road with fewer and fewer rocks. There will always be a boulder or two ahead, but by the time you get to that place, it should be fairly easy to see them coming and swerve gracefully out of harm's way.

I look forward to learning with and from you, Amy.

Thank you everyone for the great welcome. I started my DBT group today and even though it is all still very new to me, I found alittle more hope. The section that I am starting on is DISTRESS MANAGEMENT and just seeing that there are more choices out there than to hurt myself. I have read through the section twice today after group. Even though it all seems like a new language to me and I have to learn to speak it, it is there, right there in front of me. Wow... Maybe I am not a born loser after all.
